Pumpkin, it’s not just to flavor your coffee!

Believe it or not, pumpkin has great value as a skin care product.  Pumpkin has a high content of vitamin A and beta carotene, two potent antioxidant ingredients. How, exactly, do antioxidants help your skin? They are the foremost defense against “free radicals”.

Free radicals are produced by the body in daily metabolism and in response to things like sun exposure. They’re very volatile and can inflict damage to cells and cause inflammation. Unless antioxidants are at hand to neutralize the damaging effects, free radicals will increase risks of certain diseases, cause cellular damage and alter DNA, which can result in aging and illnesses. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help you keep free radicals in check. Using skin care products with antioxidants protects against cellular damage to skin.

Antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, E, and beta carotene (and other minerals and enzymes) are involved with skin repair, strengthening of blood vessels and collagen production. Collagen is the foundation of blood vessels and all connective tissues and is therefore found in the support fibers that makes the skin supple and taut.

At Privy Skin Care, we know all about what antioxidants can do to provide nourishment support for your skin. That’s why we formulate skin care products and offer facials and spa treatments infused with antioxidants, including pumpkin!
